Southeast Brownfields Success Stories

Developers and grantees across the Southeast rely on Hart & Hickman to move their Brownfield projects to successful redevelopment.

Former Singer Sewing Now a Distribution Facility

An out of state developer seeking Brownfield opportunities identifed this former Singer sewing machine facility in Chocowinity North Carolina as an opportunity.

The developer worked with Hart & Hickman to enter the property into the North Carolina Brownfield Program, and subsquently conducted a modest remediation consisting of UST closure, as well as $15,000 surface soil removal and capping with concrete paving at an area of non-petroleum contamination.

The property was a location of vandalsim and vagrancy, and now, with just a modest investment to address the contamination issues, at the site is operated as a successful multi-tenant distribution facility.
