EPA Funding Highlights
The approved stimulus package includes $100 million in additonal funding for competitive grants for evaluation and cleanup of Brownfields. We understand these funds will be awarded to selected grantee proposals already submitted in the November 2008 round.
In additon to Brownfields funding, EPA intends to move the following designated funds to states as quickly
as possible.
- $4 billion for loans to help communities upgrade wastewater treatment systems through EPA’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
- $2 billion for loans for drinking water infrastructure through EPA’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
- $300 million for grants and loans to state and local governments for projects that reduce diesel emissions, benefiting public health and reducing global warming.
- $600 million for the cleanup of hazardous and toxic Superfund sites.
- $200 million for enforcement and cleanup of petroleum leaks from underground storage tanks.
