Town Initiates Voluntary Cleanup Contract with SCDHEC
The Town of Hampton has initiated a Voluntary Cleanup Contract (VCC) with South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC). The Town is currently in the process of acquiring the former Safety Disposal Systems, Inc. properties through eminent domain proceedings. However, if the Town were to take ownership of the properties without the VCC, it would be liable for any potential environmental impacts present at the site. With the VCC in place, DHEC provides some liability protection for the Town.
