History and Environmental Assessments
This property was first developed as the Rome Oil Mill and Rome Fertilizer Company in the early 1900s. The Rome Oil Mill produced cotton seed oil at the site until the late 1970s. Fertilizer production occurred at the site is at least between 1909 through 1950. Numerous structures associated with cotton seed oil and fertilizer production were demolished in the 1990s and 2000s. From the 1940s to the 1990s Minge Construction Company utilized the northern portion of the site to manufacture concrete.
The City of Rome has conducted a Phase I ESA with EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant funds on the property on behalf of the property owner.

A substantial portion of the subject site is located within Zone X. Zone X indicates that the property is located in a moderate to low risk area which typically is called the 500-year flood plain.
