Owners of Aycock Corner (Former SOC Station) to Donate Property to City

Aycock Corner, a prime location in down town Millen, will be donated by owner to the City of Millen. Results of the soil and ground water sampling event indicate that petroluem has been released into the soil and ground water. In addition, lead was identified in soils behind the former repair shop.  Because these issues were identified, the lead soils will need to be excavated, and the underground gasoline tanks will need to be removed.  The owners were unable to complete this remediation, and therefore are donating the properyt to the City.  The City, in conjunction with the Central Savannah River Area RDC, are actively applying for funding to clean up these issues at the site.
