City of

Hickory Brownfields

Informing the community is an important part of the EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant process.

The City has created a Brownfields Advisory Group (BAG) to implement community involvement and notification efforts.  The BAG includes members from City Council, Hickory Regional Planning Commission, Catawba County Economic Development Corporation, Western Piedmont Council of Governments, Community Appearance Commission, Hickory Downtown Development Association, City Chamber, neighborhood associations, local developers and realtors, and City of Hickory staff.  The BAG meets quarterly to discuss the project and upcoming community outreach activities.  These meetings, which are open to the public, are announced in the local newspaper (Hickory Daily Record), radio (WHKY 1290 AM), and the City’s website (www.ci.hickory.nc.us).

The community can also keep up with the City’s efforts through door stuffers (fact sheets and newsletters), newspaper (Hickory Daily Record), radio (WHKY 1290 AM), the City’s website, and this website.
