The goal of Hickory's Brownfield Program is to put underutilized properties back into service, enhance quality of life for the community, generate jobs, and increase private investment within the City.

Piedmont Wagon Manufacturing Company historically operated on the subject site from 1889 until the late 1950s when the company went out of business. Piedmont Wagon Company built horse and carriage wagons, trailers, and eventually manufactured automobile station wagon beds.
