First TN Development District's Efforts Land $500,000 in Two EPA Brownfield Grants for NE Tennessee
May 01, 2009First Tennessee Development District (FTDD) administers two Brownfield assessment grants collectively totaling $500,000 in funds provided by EPA. FTDD manages the Sullivan County Brownfield Hazardous Substance Assessment Grant awarded by EPA to Sullivan County in September 2006. Sullivan County is using this grant to assess environmental conditions and promote site redevelopment of the former Davis Pipe Company property in Blountville. FTDD also manages a Brownfield Petroleum Assessment Grant directly awarded by EPA to FTDD in September 2007. This is a community-wide grant for the eight-county northeast Tennessee region served by FTDD to address under-utilized petroleum-impacted properties and promote their site redevelopment.
