The goal of FTDD's Brownfield Program is to optimize the use of underutilized properties, enhance quality of life for the community, generate jobs, and increase private investment within the FTDD's eight-county region.
First TN Development District's Efforts Land $500,000 in Two EPA Brownfield Grants for NE Tennessee
FTDD grant applications were successful in obtaining two Brownfield assessment grants from EPA. FTDD assisted Sullivan County in obtaining $300,000 for a site-specific hazardous substance grant, and FTDD was directly awarded a $200,000 community-wide petroleum assessment grant by EPA for the eight-county northeast Tennessee region it serves.

Community Outreach Meeting Held at County Courthouse
A community meeting was held on March 4, 2008 to discuss the findings of the Phase II sampling activities conducted at the former Davis Pipe Company property in September - October, 2007.
